'OLD' MARK TWAIN LIBRARY CLOSING TO MAKE WAY FOR NEW, STATE-OF-THE-ART FACILITY IN CENTRAL LONG BEACH

The city of Long Beach issued the following news release:

The current Mark Twain Library at 1325 E. Anaheim Street will be closing its doors on Tuesday, July 3, 2007 at 5:30 p.m. The tiny library opened in 1958 as a "temporary" facility in a wing of City of Long Beach Parks and Recreation building in MacArthur Park and has proudly served residents for nearly 50 years.

The old library will be making way for the "new" 16,000 square foot Mark Twain Library, which will open on Saturday, August 11, at 11:00 a.m. The new library is located at 1401 E. Anaheim Street.
