Brief Summary Of Life On The Mississippi
Mark Twain begins this autobiographical account of his Mississippi River
experiences by briefly discussing the physical statistics and the early
explorers of the river. He includes a fictional account of activities on a
river raft. His own early desire to be a river pilot leads him to become an
apprentice - pilot under Mr. Horace Bixby. He suffers much humiliation, but he
finally becomes a full - fledged pilot. He remembers the river at high water
