Leo Tolstoy's literary masterpiece, and arguably one of the most legendary movies adapted to film, War And Peace has had two epic productions over the years--a 1956 Paramount version, directed by King Vidor and starring Henry Fonda, Audrey Hepburn and Mel Ferrer (which streets Jan. 29 on vanilla DVD), and a 1968 Russian production directed by and starring Sergei Bondarchuk. Both versions are being released on DVD within five weeks of each other. The mammoth Russian production is available in two different versions: one from Image and one from Kultur.
