Henry David Thoreau might have enjoyed Evansville's riverfront when the sunrise is peeking around the Old National Bank tower and a barge is moving slowly downriver, stirring tiny waves that roll toward shore.

After all, he's the thinker who once said, "Many men go fishing all of their lives without knowing that it is not the fish they are after."

That may or may not be true for the handful of men often found at Dress Plaza. Some show up before dawn, others by 8 a.m., bringing their hot and cold drinks and snacks.
