REDLANDS Henry David Thoreau was an individual who stood out from the crowd and was not afraid to share his vision with others, said Angela Westengard of Redlands.

The famous author of "Walden" had an idea to save the natural beauty of the area surrounding Walden Pond during a time when America was eating up its resources to fuel the industrialization of the area.

"An extraordinary, some-people-might-call-it-crazy idea," reads Westengard's new children's book about Henry.
