Nair brings color, colonialism to 'Fair'

Mira Nair, the 21st-century director of "Monsoon Wedding," found a kindred spirit in William Makepeace Thackeray, the 19th-century London literary lion and author of "Vanity Fair" -- and not just because both were born in India.
