In 1729, Jonathan Swift suggested Ireland's degrading poverty and overpopulation might be remedied if Englishmen purchased and ate Irish "yearling" children. Swift's A Modest Proposal, a brilliant satire, is still read and enjoyed.It appears Max Karson's misfortune is living in a PC age, and not being sufficiently "Swift" ("CU students urge resignations ," Feb. 28).
