Swift And Gulliver's Travels
Jonathan Swift was an old man already when his masterpiece, Travels Into
Several Remote Nations of the World, was published in 1726. Gulliver's
Travels, as the work came to be called, was an immediate popular success but
it brought its author neither profit nor joy, and, at sixty years of age,
Swift was not concerned with fame; during his long, difficult and frustrating
life, he had already acquired what fame he was to enjoy.
