Brief Summary Of Gulliver's Travels:
Book I
Lemuel Gulliver, the son of a Nottinghamshire man of small means, is
forced to leave college at Cambridge because his father cannot afford to keep
him there. At age of 17, he goes to London and is apprenticed to Mr. James
Bates, a surgeon. After four years with Bates, Gulliver goes to Leyden on
the continent to continue his medical studies. Returning to England after two
years, he gets a position as a ship's surgeon and makes a number of voyages.
