A FERRY operating from North Wales has been given top marks in a Europe-wide safety assessment.

The Jonathan Swift, which shuttles between Holyhead and Dublin, is one of only nine ferries judged ``very good'' in a survey of 34 vessels.

At the other end of the scale is a Greek ferry which could be used by British visitors travelling to the Olympic Games in Athens this summer.

It is one of two ferries, both operating in the Mediterranean, listed as ``poor'' by the AA Motoring Trust in a survey published yesterday.
