Two mid-19th century gold bracelets commemorate important events in US history. One of the bracelets was given to author Harriet Beecher Stowe in 1853 when she was touring the UK shortly after her book, 'Uncle Tom's Cabin,' was published. The other one was designed by Civil War hero Maj. Gen. Joshua Lawrence Chamberlain as an anniversary gift to his wife.
