Harriet Beecher Stowe House sold

BRUNSWICK, Maine, Jan. 28 (UPI) _ The 192-year-old Victorian house in
Brunswick, Maine, where Harriet Beecher Stowe wrote ``Uncle Tom's
Cabin'' in the 1850s has been sold at auction for $865,000.

The new owners are two businessmen _ George Elwell of Topsham, head of
a company that paves roads, and James Koulovatos of Brunswick,
proprietor of several restaurants and head of a tile and flooring
company.

The men are making plans today to reopen the Stowe House as an inn and
restaurant as soon as they complete needed repairs.
