Showtime presents a program directed by Stan Latham and adapted from Harriet Beecher Stowe's novel by John Gay. Showing from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday over local cable systems.

One of the most demeaning and offensive slurs directed toward any black man or woman is to be called an "Uncle Tom." The term suggests that blacks have sold out their black identity, their black pride to white society in a subservient manner.
