As tourist destinations go, it is probably unusual to travel 5,000 clicks to attend a Teddy Bears' Picnic. But when it is a rare chance to simultaneously attend a 94th birthday party for a lady with family ties to Canada's greatest humourist, it is irresistible.

A snap decision was made and in 24 hours this traveller was on his way from Vancouver to Orillia, Ont.
