The Alps form the largest mountain range in Europe. They curve for
700 miles (1,127 km) from the French Riviera coast, along the French-
Italian border, through Switzerland and Austria, and into Slovenia
and Croatia. Mont Blanc, 15,771 feet (4,807 m) high, is the highest
peak in France and the highest in the Alps. (See the map with the
