TRACY -- Whether the California Grizzlies admit they went to Tracy High's Peter B. Kyne Field on Friday overlooking the Bulldogs, it's hard to imagine they were ready for a dogfight.

At least for the first half.

The Grizzlies scored 48 points in the first quarter a year ago on their way to a 56-8 laugher.

But things played out a little different Friday, though the result, a 30-12 California win, was the same.

The final was one-sided, but for most of the first half, the Bulldogs not only hung tough, they were the better team.
