Temple shuts down Tracy

TRACY -- The Calvary Temple Panthers won when it counted on Saturday, beating the Tracy Buccaneers 14-0 in the first round of the National Youth Football League junior varsity playoffs at Tracy High's Peter B. Kyne Field.

The teams met twice during the regular season, with Tracy winning both games.

Sal Alvarado led Tracy with 105 yards rushing on 21 carries, while Johnny Chambers carried 15 times for 80 yards.

Tracy, looking for a momentum changer, looked to score after holding off the Panthers inches from the goal line. But the Bucs couldn't capitalize.
