Tracy musician cooks up Katrina benefit

TRACY -- The roar of the crowd coming from Peter B. Kyne Field on Sunday afternoon wont be for a youth football game.

Hundreds of people are expected to enjoy live music, eat Southern- style food and raise money for the victims of Hurricane Katrina at a community-organized event.

The event, organized and produced in less than a month, was the brain-child of Tracy musician Jeff Bordes. He said the idea came to him while watching a television benefit organized by singer Harry Connick Jr.

He said he had seen benefit fund-raisers popping up all over, but none from the whole community.
