TRACY -- Malik Mackson of the varsity Delta Rebels took the opening kickoff Saturday and returned it 50 yards to the Modesto 49ers 35, then ran for a touchdown on the next play to give the Rebels a 6-0 lead in opening-round South Conference Delta Youth Football playoff action.

Mackson wound up with five touchdowns as Delta hammered Modesto 71-28 at Tracy High's Peter B. Kyne Field.

Mackson pulled in a 15-yard touchdown pass from Anthony Pera, and gained 210 on nine carries, scoring also on runs of 11, 37 and 45 yards.
