Oliver Goldsmith, long ago, declaimed a love of everything old: 'old friends, old times, old manners, old books, old wines.'
He didn't mention old golfers but he might have if the game had been invented long enough for there to have been any.
Today, the game is densely populated by old golfers. You have to be careful of how you define 'old,' of course but the last lot of statistics that I saw indicated that the fairly large majority of golf's adherents had advanced beyond 50 years.
