The Carousel Stakes brought Oliver Goldsmith $45,000 yesterday, and a wave of regret that he'll never have a chance to recreate the filly that won it.

Miss Slewpy, the only 3-year-old in the race, burst through an inside gap on the far turn and showed her long black tail to five rivals, winning the $75,000 race at Laurel Park by seven lengths. She became the third winner of the day for the jockey-trainer team of Larry Reynolds and Ron Cartwright.
