MET Commissioner Sir John Stevens has been ordered to report to Home Secretary David Blunkett and explain why children at Damilola Taylor's school are still being menaced by gangs of youths.
In an extraordinary intervention, Mr Blunkett has told teachers and pupils at Oliver Goldsmith School that he will bring the full weight of the Government to bear on tackling the gangs and antisocial behaviour on estates in Peckham.
In the New Year, he will want reports from Sir John on actions being taken to calm the fears of students at the school. He has already spoken to local MP Harriet Harman about ...
