Two of the country's best-loved performers, who were once a showbiz couple, are taking to the stage in a classic comedy of manners.

Liza Goddard, an accomplished comedy actress, leads the cast in Oliver Goldsmith's play She Stoops To Conquer, which opens in Cheltenham on Tuesday night.

The former Pig in the Middle, Bergerac and Take Three Girls star plays Mrs Hardcastle.

Opposite her on the Everyman stage is her former husband Colin Baker who plays on-stage husband Squire Hardcastle.

His most famous role was the lead character in Dr Who from 1984 to 1986.
