A PAIR of broken glasses worn by John Lennon have failed to sell at auction.

The Oliver Goldsmith spectacles, which have no lenses and a broken arm, were on sale on the website eBay.

But they were withdrawn after only pounds 1,000 was bid.

Lennon's orange-tinted glasses, which he wore while composing his Imagine album,are widely regarded as the world's most valuable spectacles and are insured for more than pounds 1m.

But the old pair Lennon wore in 1969 failed to capture the imagination of eBay buyers.
