Winston Churchill, perhaps predictably, has come top of a poll of MPs to find out who was their hero.

But the informal poll in the BBC History magazine out in May, also finds some surprises from the Midlands.

Labour's Bruce George (Walsall South) put party differences aside to vote for Churchill whereas his colleague Gisela Stuart (Edgbaston) plumped for Niccolo Machiavelli.
