Ticino is the only Swiss canton located entirely south of the Alps. The adopted home of Hermann Hesse and other artists and celebrities, Ticino offers a comparatively warm climate, an embarrassing abundance of incredibly lush vegetation, and a foretaste of the rich Italian culture and culinary delights just beyond the border. The weather is generally the inverse of that north of the Alps: when it's overcast in Zurich, it's sunny in Ticino, and vice versa.
