Chapter One. The Son Of The Brahman

Title

At the very beginning, some of the important themes of the novel are
suggested. Siddhartha is first introduced as his father's son, and the
father-son relationship later proves to be of considerable significance. It
is also important that the father is a Brahman who rigidly follows this form
of life.
