Chapter Three
Style: Narrative Switches To Present.
As Chapter Three opens, H.H. makes a transition from the narrative past
to the narrative present. In Chapters One and Two he relates events which
take place ten years earlier; in the remaining three chapters he records his
experiences shortly after they have taken place. There is a noticeable
