AFTER the botched sale last year of the Masinloc coalfired power plant, the Power Assets and Liabilities Management Corporation (PSALM) rebid the 600 megawatt facility, selected a Singapore-based firm as the winner, and regained the confidence of the power industry.

Privatization advocates predict a bright future for the government's efforts at reforming the power sector since the Masinloc is the biggest sale by far of the country's power plants.
