The Scarlet Letter, which is found in numerous editions, many of which are in
paperback. The paperback Rinehart Edition, edited by Austin Warren and
published by Holt, Rinehart, and Winston, is excellent. The same is true for
the paperback Riverside Edition, edited by Harry Levin and published by
Houghton Mifflin Company. Both editions have thoughtful introductions and some
