The House Of The Seven Gables: Chapters 11 - 16
Chapter XI: "The Arched Window"
Synopsis:
Clifford enjoys watching people go by on the street. He likes to see the
many carts, the scissor-grinder, and the barrel-organ grinder. When a
"political procession" passes the house, he is stopped by his sister and
cousin from jumping through the window into the crowd below. The two old
people prepare to go to church and then find that they do not feel comfortable
outside of the old house. Clifford takes up the sport of blowing soap bubbles.
