WEIMAR, Germany - A historic German library that was gutted by fire in 2004 will reopen in October following a $15.8 million restoration, officials said Friday.
The Duchess Anna Amalia Library in Weimar is to reopen with a ceremony on Oct. 24, and the building "will look different inside and out from how we remember it," said Hellmut Seemann, president of the Foundation of Weimar Classics.
