The Second Part Of The Tragedy. Act 1 and 2
Act One
Pleasant Landscape (lines 4613-4727):
Faust is stretched out in a flowery meadow. He is weary and restless and
longs for sleep. Twilight has just fallen. A ring of Spirits swirls around
him in graceful movement. Ariel, one of the spirits, sings a soothing song to
the accompaniment of harps.
Soothe the storm of Faust's mortal heart, Ariel sings to the Spirits.
Wash away the memory of horrors past and give him comfort. Renew his strength
through sleep and lead him back to the air of Heaven.
