John Going has directed a lively, likable "Arms and the Man" at the Olney Theatre. George Bernard Shaw's satire-romance, about a young Hungarian woman and a Swiss soldier of fortune, parodies, among other things, the silly stories of operetta, and this is the element Going and his designers -- particularly costumer Marianne Krostynne -- emphasize. Richer interpretations of the script are possible, but it certainly plays on this thin but extremely entertaining level.
