The children at Harlem-based Frederick Douglass Center had every reason
last Friday to be happy. A generous donor, General Electric's Financial
Guarantee Insurance Company (FGIC), showed up to formally present them a
library that was built, furnished and decorated by the firm.
Operated by the Children's Aid Society, the new library is housed in the
Frederick Douglass Center, 885 Columbus Ave. in the Manhattan Valley
section of Harlem, which services nearly 2,000 kids between the ages of 5
and 18.
