Everyone is familiar with or have heard about the turbulent times of the
1960s. Black folks rioted in the streets. Police oppression and racism
caused Black folks to reach the boiling point - again.

As a student working on my master's degree in social work at Wayne State
University, I found myself in the middle of the Black students' struggle by
helping organize the Association of Black Students and serving as its
president until I graduated. Being a "militant," I was an avid reader and
