Frederick Douglass grandson wins big in race bias case.
An African-American Brinks guard has won from the State Division of Human Rights what may be a record award -- approximately $345,000 -- in a discrimination case brought before that body, announced the attorneys from O'Dwyer & Bernstein.
In a case that dragged on for six years, during which time Frederick Douglas Murray was disabled, the tribunal agreed that Brinks had evidenced disparate treatment in handling Murray's case and a similar case involving a White guard.
