The latest branch of the worldwide Italian Societa' Dante Alighieri was launched in Pietermaritzburg this week.
KwaZulu-Natal has more than 3 500 Italian expatriates and about 50 attended the inaugural gathering, addressed by the Italian Consul in Durban, Ugo Ciarlatani, at St Charles College's Coach House.
The Societa' Dante Alighieri was founded in Italy in 1889 to promote Italian language and culture and to provide links between expatriates, their mother country and locals.
