SEATTLE ITALIAN PROGRAM MARKS 20-PLUS YEARS OF SUCCESS

When the Washington State chapter of the Dante Alighieri Society launched its beginners Italian class in 1984, it had no idea it would last more than two decades and expand to include intermediate, advanced and conversational Italian.

Today 105 students attend the classes that are offered on Seattle University's campus, but are independent of the university. Each course lasts 30 weeks (3 quarters) on average and meets twice weekly.

They attract teen-agers as well as senior citizens and, at only $110 per quarter, the program offers "the most hours of instruction in Italian in Seattle at the ...
