Poet Dante's exile letter made public
FLORENCE, Italy, Sep 24, 2004 (United Press International via COMTEX) -- A copy of the letter exiling famous 14th century Italian poet Dante Alighieri from his native town has been made public for the first time.
The Florence, Italy, State Archive plans to distribute 2,000 copies to universities and libraries of the 14th century manuscript detailing the corruption and seditious opposition to the pope, charges that resulted in "The Divine Comedy" author's exile from Florence for the last 20 years of the poet's life, ...
