Walter Milne Holton, 68, a professor emeritus in the English department at the University of Maryland who retired from the faculty last year, died of heart disease Jan. 17 at Sibley Memorial Hospital.
Dr. Holton joined the English faculty at Maryland in 1961, and he was widely known for his books of translations of Serbian, Macedonian and Eastern European poetry. In 1970, he was a Fulbright professor at Cyril and Methodius University in Skopje, Yugoslavia.
