Corwyn Bay earned a place in the history books at Phoenix Park today by winning the first Cartier Million, the world's richest horse race for 2-year-olds.

Ridden by Stephen Crane, the Irish colt weaved through the 20-strong field over the seven-furlong flat course and made a late run on the inside rail.

Corwyn Bay's victory earned owner Tommy Stack $850,000, the same amount as the winner receives in the Arc de Triomphe race in Paris.
