Hace ahora 450 años que nacía en Alcalá de Henares Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra, autor de El Quijote. Hasta que cuatro años más tardo se fue con sus padres a Valladolid, ésta fue su casa y ésta fue su ciudad, a menos de 30 kilómetros de Madrid. Durante algunos siglos --XVII y XVIII-- fue una de las villas culturalmente más esplendorosas de España.

Es Miguel de Cervantes, sin embargo, el que perfuma todo el ambiente intelectual de esta pequeña ciudad, aunque muy abigarrada (cerca de 170.000 habitantes), que no ha perdido ni sus tradiciones, ni su ambiente estudiantil, ...
