No parece fácil acotar las obras completas de un autor. En rigor, la obra canónica solamente debería incluir aquellos escritos que el autor firma y autoriza para su publicación, mientras que todo lo demás--sean cartas, diarios, borradores o notas a pie de página--habría de considerarse, más bien, el residuo testimonial que deja el autor tras de sí.
