Ernest Hemingway may have been influenced by the writings of Emily Bronte when he wrote 'A Farewell to Arms' because it contains many parallels to Bronte's book 'Wuthering Heights.' Bronte's story revolves around the passionate romance between the headstrong Catherine and Heathcliff, whose love is only consummated beyond their death. Similarly, Hemingway's work portrays a destructive relationship between a woman named Catherine and her lover Frederic.
