Northern Ballet Theatre has had a great success in setting famous novels as ballets and the latest in the series, Emily Bronte's Wuthering Heights, which had its London premiere at the Sadler's Wells Theatre on 13 March, was a fine addition to the repertoire. David Nixon, the new Director of the company and the choreographer of the ballet, has wisely cut and reshaped Bronte's original story. It is now a vivid love triangle between Heathcliff, Edgar Linton and Cathy, who dies at the end of the ballet and not in the middle as in the novel.
