Previously unpublished love poems written by Bramwell Bronte -- the younger brother of Charlotte, Anne and Emily Bronte -- to a married woman were snapped up by buyers at auction yesterday.
The five poems written by Bramwell Bronte in the 1840s sold for a total of $24,570 -- more than double their pre-sale estimates, auctioneers at Sotheby's said.
Bramwell wrote the lovelorn verses in a fit of depression after he was separated from the object of his affections -- Lydia Robinson, a married woman whose children he was tutoring.
