CRADLING a pure white china cup of hazily flavoured tea, I am comforted to know that I have definitely got one over on screen stars Renee Zellweger and Ewan McGregor.

They may have spent months in the Lake District filming Miss Potter, the colourful and fabled life of classical children's author, Beatrix, but they missed this veritable Teahouse of Happiness.

Because here, shaded by a metal, barley sugar twist Victorian awning, the Hazelmere cafe in Grange-over-Sands is a supreme secret.
