A GARDEN setting for one of Beatrix Potter's classic books is being restored to its Victorian glory.

Gwaenynog Hall, in Denbigh, was regularly visited by the author in the 1890s, with the gardens providing the inspiration for The Tale of the Flopsy Bunnies.

Owner Janie Smith will open its gates to the public in June.

'At the moment we are trying to improve the beds, because they tend to become rather tatty,' said Mrs Smith. The garden features herbaceous plants, apple trees, and pear trees, as well as apricots, peaches and damsons.
