EARLIER this month, JK Rowling made the Forbes billionaires list. At the same time, it was announced that a letter, written by Beatrix Potter to a downcast young reader apologising for having written a "not very good'' book, would be put up for auction this month with an estimate of pounds 2,000 - pounds 2,500.
"The printers said all the little friends would be disappointed if I did not screw out my normal Christmas book,'' she wrote to the six- year-old Joy Shapland in 1913. "I'm afraid it is not very good this time but I have done my best, now I am well again I will hope to do better next ...
